On West Lafayette in downtown Detroit Adam was conflicted between Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island to try a chili dog because the conflict of who was better has been going on for years. Both places have the same extended family. Adam decided to try them both. At American Adam was totally impressed by the saucy chili with Greek spices and the soft bun, but at Lafayette he was lovin the thicker meaty chili. Both the dogs are made with mustard onions and chili. Adam never said who he liked better but I think American Coney Island looked much better.

Before attempting the challenge Adam went to Slows BBQ. They offer hickory smoked chicken wings, brisket enchilada (that looks amazingly good) and much more. Adam was there to try the triple threat pork which is their signature dish. It’s made with a grilled poppy seed bun, applewood smoked bacon, hickory smoked pork butt and grilled ham. They have 7 specialty sauces. On top he put orange pop BBQ sauce made with real orange pop. Yummy Yummy!

The Challenge took place at Mallie’s Sports Grill and Bar. Adam got together a team of 40 hometown heroes such as local fire fighters, police, the roller derby, and Kiss impersonators to try the 190 lb. Absolute ridiculous burger (which is the biggest burger in the world). The burger took over a day to make. it was topped off with 10 lbs. of assorted cheeses , 15 lbs. of vegetables and 4 lbs. of bacon. They only had 2 hours to eat it. In just half an hour they went through over 100 lbs. Then the team started to fade with 55 lbs. left. When there was only 10 min. left there was still 35 lbs. left on their plates. In the end they didn’t quite make it but that was a crazy amount of food even for 40 people. I would never want to be part of that challenge because a lot of those plates looked like just meat, but that is astounding that someone could make such a monstrosity of a burger.
